Island Hopping in the Philippines

The Philippines is a dream destination for adventurous spirits interested in island hopping. It has over 7000 islands and this has made it one of my favorite places in the world. I enjoy the islands’ sandy coastlines and mountainous interiors. The off peak season is the best time to visit if you want to feel like you have an entire island to yourself. I have pitched tent on deserted coastlines on some of my trips to enjoy the peace and quiet before I head out to the populated parts of the country. Island hopping in the Philippines is exhilarating. You need several lifetimes to explore all the beautiful islands but I have managed to visit some of the best including:

Philippines

Malapascua Island

This was my first stop on my maiden Philippines trip. Malapascua Island offers world-class diving. It is a small and idyllic place with a lovely beach. I had a thriving experience diving with some thresher sharks on the island.

Siargao

I chose Siargao for its amazing waves. You can have an exhilarating surfing experience at any time of the year. This island is also breathtaking and tranquil, making it an ideal location if you are in search of the perfect relaxing spot.

Mactan Island

I visited this island during a visit to Cebu City. Mactan Island is quite busy and I enjoyed diving on its coast. Its resorts are all-inclusive and this has made it an ideal choice whenever I travel from Hong Kong or Manila. I spent my days snorkeling with a variety of tropical fish during my island hopping adventure in Mactan.

Guimaras

I came across this island by chance during a visit to Iloilo City. Guimaras is just a boat ride away from this city. I had some of the sweetest mangoes on this island. Its winding roads were perfect for biking. I also liked the moderately priced resorts that offered amazing services and facilities.

Siquijor

I visited this island out of curiosity. The locals associate Siquijor with witchcraft and it has remained largely mysterious. This is definitely a must-visit if you want to explore the unknown. I visited traditional healers who make ointments you can use for various modern illnesses.

Island hopping in the Philippines allows you to visit some of the most tranquil places in the world. This destination is also home to some of the finest coastlines in the world and island hopping is the best way to enjoy them.
